Shakira to End World Tour With 12-Concert Madrid Run

Shakira Madrid concerts

Global pop superstar Shakira is set to conclude her massive world tour with a 12-concert run in Madrid, marking her return to Spain after an eight-year absence.

The Colombian singer will begin the series of performances on Friday evening at a specially constructed 50,000-capacity venue in the southern part of the Spanish capital.

The temporary venue, being promoted as a “Shakira stadium,” will host the singer through October 11, according to events company Live Nation.

The Madrid shows will bring a major chapter of Shakira’s latest touring era to a close. With no additional European dates announced, the concerts are also expected to generate significant economic activity for the Spanish capital.

Madrid has increasingly become an important destination for major Latin music stars. Earlier this year, Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny performed a 10-show run in the city during May and June.

For Shakira, the Madrid concerts carry an added significance because they represent her first performances in Spain since 2018.

Her return comes several years after her highly publicised separation from former Spanish football star Gerard Piqué became public in 2022.

Shakira world tour

Shakira launched her current world tour in February 2025 in support of her album Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, which translates as Women No Longer Cry.

The record was heavily influenced by the singer’s personal experiences following the end of her relationship with Piqué. The album also added another major achievement to her decorated career after earning her fourth Grammy Award.

Over a career spanning several decades, Shakira has established herself as one of the most successful Latin music artists internationally. She has sold more than 95 million records around the world and built a global following through a mix of Latin, pop and dance music.

Her connection with football has also been particularly prominent. Shakira performed at major FIFA World Cup ceremonies, including the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2026 tournament.

Her iconic track Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) was the official song of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, the first edition of the tournament held on the African continent.

The singer’s return to Spain also comes after the conclusion of a major tax case involving Spanish authorities.

In November 2023, Shakira paid a €7.3 million fine as part of an agreement with Spanish courts after pleading guilty to tax fraud charges, allowing her to avoid a trial.

She also paid €17.45 million to Spain’s tax authorities to settle her tax affairs in the country.

Despite the legal controversy, Shakira’s upcoming Madrid concerts are expected to place the focus firmly back on her music and live performances.

The 12-show finale will give Spanish fans an opportunity to see the international star perform in the country for the first time in eight years while bringing her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran touring cycle toward its conclusion.
