Speculation spread widely over the weekend after a viral video appeared to show Rajpal Yadav expressing gratitude toward Salman Khan, prompting claims that the superstar had bailed him out of jail. However, the reports are inaccurate.
Rajpal was sent to Tihar Jail earlier this month after surrendering in connection with a 9-crore cheque bounce case. His plea for relief was rejected by the Delhi High Court, and he remains behind bars. The viral clip circulating online is not recent and is unrelated to the current legal matter.
In the clip, Rajpal can be seen saying, “Salman bhai bade bhai ki tarah hain… Sach me relieve mehsoos kar raha hoon,” which led many viewers to mistakenly believe Salman Khan had intervened in his case. Rajpal’s wife, Radha Yadav, clarified in an interview with Bombay Times that he is still in Tihar Jail, with a bail hearing scheduled for February 16, 2026. She added that he is doing okay and the family is grateful for fan and industry support.
The legal case traces back to 2010 when Rajpal borrowed ₹5 crore to finance his directorial debut. Following the film’s failure, he was unable to repay the loan. A magisterial court sentenced him and his wife to six months in prison in 2018, a conviction upheld by a sessions court in 2019. Although he initially received relief from the Delhi High Court, his recent plea was declined because he had not surrendered on the earlier order dated February 4, 2026.
Rajpal surrendered on February 5, 2026, complying with the court’s instructions. He may file an appropriate legal application after surrendering, but as of now, there has been no bailout or intervention by Salman Khan. The viral video has simply fueled misinformation, despite ongoing support from the film fraternity.
