  • Rajpal Yadav Seeks Film Roles After Delhi High Court Grants 30-Day Bail

Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav is looking to revive his acting career following the Delhi High Court’s decision to grant him 30 days’ interim bail in a long-standing cheque bounce case. The actor surrendered earlier this month in connection with a decade-old loan default, receiving temporary relief while legal proceedings continue.

Speaking to India TV after his release, Yadav appealed to filmmakers for new opportunities, particularly directors and producers he had worked with in the past. He emphasized his readiness to accept mutually agreed fees for meaningful roles, expressing his desire to portray strong and substantial characters.

“I need good roles,” Yadav stated, adding that he is prepared to work under producers’ conditions if offered impactful projects. The actor also acknowledged both supporters and critics on social media, noting that public feedback had shaped his professional journey over the years.

The legal case originates from a ₹5-crore loan Yadav took in 2010 from Murli Projects Private Limited to finance his film Ata Pata Lapata, which underperformed at the box office. The actor failed to repay the loan on time, and subsequent cheques issued to the lender were dishonoured. Despite attempts at settlement, outstanding dues accumulated with interest over time.

In 2018, Yadav was convicted by the Karkardooma trial court and sentenced to six months in jail. He later challenged the ruling in the Delhi High Court, securing relief on multiple occasions after giving assurances regarding repayment. However, earlier this month, the High Court directed him to surrender, leading to his brief custody before granting the 30-day interim bail.

Legal experts emphasize that interim bail does not determine final liability, and the financial dispute remains unresolved. Yadav’s case will return to court after the bail period, when compliance with repayment obligations and previous directives will be reviewed. The outcome will largely depend on whether the actor clears outstanding dues within the timeframe set by the court.

Rajpal Yadav, celebrated for his comic timing and versatile character roles in Hindi cinema, has maintained strong public goodwill over the years. Industry analysts suggest that while legal challenges can complicate casting decisions, actors with memorable performances and audience recall often find opportunities for comeback roles. This interim bail provides Yadav a crucial window to reconnect with filmmakers and audiences alike.
